Henry Willis Baxley graduated from the Medical School of the University of Maryland in 1824, and became demonstrator and then professor of anatomy and physiology at the University of Maryland in 1834. Dr. Baxley joined with Horace Hayden, Chapin Harris, and Dr. Thomas Bond in 1839 to petition the state of Maryland to establish the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where he would become Professor of Anatomy and Physiology.
