Thomas Emerson Bond Jr. graduated from the Medical School of the University of Maryland in 1834, of which his father was one of the founders, and became professor at the Washington Medical College in Baltimore teaching Theory and Practice of Medicine. Dr. Bond joined with Horace Hayden, Chapin Harris, and H. Willis Baxley in 1839 to petition the state of Maryland to establish the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where he would become Professor of Special Pathology and Therapeutics and would be responsible for writing the the Latin diploma which became the standard for the D.D.S. degree.
